History of Konnie Johannesson's Winnipeg Falcons Olympic Medal
My father the late Konrad (Konnie) Johannesson, as a player on the Winnipeg Falcons hockey team, was presented with this Olympic Medal for Hockey in Antwerp on Monday April 26th, 1920. From then on, that medal was continuously in his possession until his death in 1968. I can remember the medal at home from the late 1930s and my sisters can remember it from the late 1920s. Upon the death of my mother in April 1969 I inherited the medal, his Falcons team jersey and other papers and memorabilia. Since then, all of these items have been continuously in my possession, either at home or in a safe deposit box at the bank.
I decided to present the medal, the jersey and other items to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, in order that many more people could learn about the Winnipeg Falcons and their achievements. Before presenting these items I took several photographs of them, which appear on this website.
