SR receives Falcons jersey as gift
One of the teams that took part in the Iceland Invitational tournament over the weekend was the Westmount-Montreal team from Canada. They brought a replica of the Falcons jersey from Brian Johannesson in Canada who wanted to give it to Skautaflag Reyjavkur at the tournament. Norman Richer, W-M team manager, gave the jersey to Bjrn rvar, representative of the SR ice hockey division. Brian is the son of Konnie Johannesson of the famous team the Falcons, who won the Olympic gold medal for Canada in ice hockey at the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920. All but one of the Falcons players were sons of Icelandic immigrants who moved to Canada in the late 19th century. The story of the Falcons is unique and amazing and later it will be told in detail. This is a great honour which Brian is showing to hockey here in Iceland. The jersey will be displayed prominently at Skautahllin in Laugardalur. Skautaflag Reykjavkur would like to thank Brian kindly for this magnificent gift.
